The Australis filter supplied is a sub-micron filter using ceramic, activated carbon, and silver. This gives 3 stages of filtration using 100% natural media. Cheaper ceramic candles usually only do two stage filtering

They are suitable for all Australis Gravity Water Purifiers (Billabong, Ming Bluegrass/Rose, Coolaway), Southern Cross, Monbulk Pottery, Vitali, Durand Water Filters, Hi-tech, Bendigo Pottery Water Filter Purifiers and most other brands except Stefani terracotta with overflow float.

Australis Ceramic Water Filter Candle filter down to <1 micron porosity, which allows it to filter out giardia and cryptosporidium. They also remove chlorine, chemicals, metals, sediment, bad taste and odours but retains essential Minerals including Calcium, Potassium and Magnesium.

Australis Model 288 filter candles are suitable for :Australis Ming/Billabong, Coolaway, Stoneware, Waterco, Atlantis, Vitali, Aquaramic, Southern Cross, stainless steel gravity purifiers and Durand Water Filters and many other gravity feed water filters.

Model 288 does not remove fluoride. (For more information about fluoride please see FAQ section)

The model 288 & Doulton ceramic filters do block a small % fluoride (20%) however the Ultraceram or Berkey FP-2/FP-4 block approx 97%
