16 litre (8/8L) Polished Berkey Stainless Steel Water filter with 2 X Doulton ceramic filters


This system is manufactured in the UK of 304 grade, polished Stainless Steel. It is hygienic, durable, corrosion resistant and easy to clean.

This system comes complete with 2 x Doulton Super sterasyl Ceramic Filters, but may be fitted with up to four filters for faster filtering. It comes with two rubber stoppers that can be removed to add additional filters. The unit also comes with two plastic taps, one chrome plated plastic tap and the original tap with the unit. There is the option to upgrade to stainless steel tap as shown in the photo's.

Lite weight, units sit inside each other for transport, so perfect for camping, caravaning & travel around Australia where the water mightn't be great.

This system is designed to filter the top chamber of unfiltered water, storing the filtered water in the bottom chamber.

Please note this system does not have a seal between the two chambers, therefore can be overfilled if adding more water to the top chamber than what is dispensed from the bottom chamber.

Units come standard with Doulton SUPER STERASYL® filter candles. These ceramic Doulton candle last approximately 2000 litres each and the unit and candles come with instructions.

The Sterasyl® ceramic is filled with granular activated carbon to produce the Super Sterasyl™ filter element. Among other things, activated carbon is very effective at removing chlorine and organics from water.

Super Sterasyl® uses granular activated carbon instead of an activated carbon block in order to give superior flow rates in a gravity filter.

Supersterasyl membrane: (candle and cartridge form): Used for microbiological removal. The only ceramic element in the world to meet the stringent NSF antimony and arsenic extraction test featuring:

>99.99% E.coli removal
Tested with live Cryptosporidium cyst to 100% removal far exceeding EPA three log cyst reduction requirements
100% efficiency at 0.9 µm absolute (0.5 µm absolute ANSI standard)
> 98% efficiency at 0.2 µm
> 90% efficiency at 0.05 µm
< 0.07 NTU turbidity reduction

(Optional) BERKEY PF-4 FLUORIDE REDUCTION ELEMENTS:


The White Berkey PF-4 Fluoride reduction units screw onto the thread of the ceramic candles, so it drips from one filter into the next. The PF-4 sits inside the upper part of the bottom tank.
The Doulton ceramic filters needs to be replaced every 4000 litres of water filtered, approx 24 months when using 5-6 litres per day. The Berkey PF-4 Fluoride Elements will last 2000 litres, approx 12 months when using 5-6 litres per day.

Contain inert high-grade activated alumina, an efficient way for reducing fluoride from drinking water.This element works in conjunction

with a Doulton filter, and will reduce unwanted impurities by "adsorption".

Fluoride by : >95%, Lead, Arsenic, MTBE, DBCP, THM"s, Herbicides+Pesticides, & heavy metal ions.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION:

*Fluoride : Testing for fluoride was based on 20-30ppm of the ion in the influent aqueous solution at a flow rate of no more than 3 gpm (11 lpm) per cubic foot of media. Results of < 1ppm of the fluoride ion in the effluent were typical for the media (>95% reduction). Under optimum conditions, effluent concentrations of less than 50 ppb were readily achieved (>99.75% reduction). *Arsenic: This product uniquely targets the entire family of arsenic oxide anions as well as the arsenic cations.

*Lead: Tests have shown that when 7,500 litres of influent water at a concentration of lead of 150-200 ppb pass through 200 grams of media at a flow rate of 1gp , the lead level was reduced to less than 1ppb (99% reduction).

*MTBE (Methyl-terteiary-butyl-ether): Berkey PF-4™ elements are manufactured to exceed ANSI/NSF standard 53 which requires that MTBE be reduced by at least two thirds from an influent rate (water going out) of less than 5ppb (>95% reduction*) *Actual capacity is dependent on the presence of other competing contaminants in the source water. High levels of total organic carbons and volatile organic compounds may reduce the capacity and efficiency of the elements.
